Sad rock news
The rock world lost one of the best lead singers of all time. Numerous outlets are starting to report that Brad Delp, the original lead singer of Boston is dead at age 55. Although I am at odds with the band's political position on most issues, I very much respected and enjoyed their music. In fact, my first vinyl album was their debut "Boston". I vividly remember my father picking me up one day from baseball practice in 1978 and he surprised me with a new copy of the album. Over the years I played that album so many times that I had to purchase two more copies as I wore out the previous copies. I had the pleasure of seeing the band twice - the first time in 1987 on the "Third Stage" tour at the Oakland Coliseum and again on the "Walk On" tour in 1994 at the Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View, CA. By 1994, Delp had relinquished most of the high parts as his voice wasn't quite what it originally was, but he gave it his all during their classic "More Than a Feeling" and absolutely nailed it. While the band slipped under the radar in the 90s, I still am fortunate to have seen them twice and am saddened at Delp's passing.
